The unique thickening effect of CELLQ® cellulose ether products is achieved through careful modification and the inclusion of functional additives. These modifications enable the thickeners to effectively reduce sagging, extend open time, eliminate the orange peel effect, shift the flow limit, and/or impart other unique properties to mortars.

One of the primary applications of CELLQ® thickeners is in thermal insulation systems. The optimal products for gluing polystyrene boards are within the CELLQ® 45xx range, featuring a viscosity of 45,000 mPa*s. The use of long-chain hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) ensures high water retention even at low dosages, providing sufficient amounts of water for proper cement hydration. Numerous independent tests, certificates, and approvals are available upon request.
CELLQ® thickeners (methylcellulose powder), specifically designed for machine plasters, offer optimal parameters to ensure high water retention in the mortar. This contributes to optimal cement hydration, reducing potential cracks during drying. A high shift in the flow point (yield point) enables the plaster to behave consistently on both vertical (walls) and horizontal (ceilings) surfaces, adhering well to the applied surface. The CELLQ® formulation prevents the mortar from sticking to tools, facilitating the quick and effective creation of smooth surfaces. The unique CELLQ® composition also stabilizes gas bubbles in the mortar, ensuring ease of pumpability without blocking hoses and nozzles, and reducing micro cracks.
CELLQ® thickeners and HPMC are suitable for various adhesive types, including adhesives in classes C1 (normal), C2 (improved), and gel adhesives. They ensure compliance with F (fast setting), E (extended open time), and T (reduced slip) standards. Depending on the degree of modification, CELLQ® thickeners (methylcellulose powder) can effectively compact the mortar, eliminating vertical slip even for large-format tiles. Some grades provide reduced retardation on cement hydration to meet the requirements for the water immersion test. The cohesion of the mortar is improved to meet the requirements for the heat aging test, while also offering above-average application properties, meeting the standards for C2TE or even C2TES1 and S2 adhesives, depending on the RDP used.
